The winner's point-to-point victories came in contrasting underfoot conditions and, on this evidence, the 11-year-old can hopefully add to this initial racecourse success. Wing of Fire had surprised many when winning at Limerick last time. The better ground then was put forward as a key to that success and, encountering much faster conditions here, he made nice headway after the sixth to race prominently. But, sidelined with a knee injury incurred at Punchestown last year, he had no answer over this two-furlong longer journey when challenged at the third-last. Dulgodti Bob arrived down to the third-last still travelling. Victorious in a Ballinrobe 2m4f maiden hurdle on good ground in August 2005, he had fallen at Listowel last September, but returning from a break, showed enough to suggest he should be able to pick up a lower grade handicap in this ground. Jamie's Boy had been placed in his last two outings in novice company and he put up a decent display in his first handicap over fences. His winning form over hurdles came on easier ground and he probably prefers some juice in the going. Kells Castle was running here for the first time since falling here on New Years Day and should be better for this outing. The Roney Man was well supported to record his third career win but after racing with every chance jumping the third-last he was soon running on empty. Your Almost There almost unseated his rider at the second but still bowled along in front until giving way at halfway. Newbay Bob was not fluent five out and jumped right at the next when trying to make ground, while Dalton never got in a blow at any stage. Millanymare was untidy at the fifth and was soon pulled up. |
