The winner was bought in for 4,000gns.

Just a run-of-the-mill seller, but there was plenty to like about the workmanlike display of JAMES BAY, who was being stoked along a fair way from home but kept finding for pressure. This was his first try in selling company, but he may prove better than that in time, as he has the size and scope to jump a fence, plus his style of racing suggests he will stay further.

Inmate, who took a keen hold early on, looked a danger all the way up the straight, but he was outstayed when the chips were down.

West Highland Way was comfortably held in third, just ahead of Ball Boy, with the remainder well spaced out and giving little cause for optimism.

Another bumper run at a slow pace with the predictable sprint developing late on. Well-bred ex-John Gosden-trained INSURGENT, who cost 140,000gns as a yearling and changed hands for a mere 800gns last July, quickened up best.

Mister Jungle has a good French jumping pedigree and produced an eyecatching effort on his debut. He's likely to improve even more once going jumping.

James Bay, from a traditional jumping family, wasn't suited by the way the race was run and is another long-term hurdling and chasing prospect.
