The winner had shaped well in winners' company over 2m4f at Limerick when finishing third to Holly Tree. The former winning point-to-pointer appreciated this this longer journey contesting his third outing over jumps and travelling well to lead at the second last. He kept up to the task and he looks a bright prospect when he goes chasing in time. This is as fast as he'd want it so a break is now on the cards according to his trainer. Off The Mark, successful in a Tralee 2m4f bumper last October, was a warm order encountering these faster conditions for the first time in his career. He had no answer when asked to go after the winner away from the second last but given the confidence beforehand he should be winning over hurdles before long. Knockane Gold appreciated this longer journey and ground when putting up a career best finish. The former point-to-point winner looks to be going the right way and should appreciate going even further on this evidence. Nightingale Island was clear with a circuit to race but passing the bypassed flight down the back straight his lead was reduced. He plugged on when the first two pulled clear. Steady Counsel hadn't run since Christmas and he made a favourable impression on his first start over jumps with Miracle Jess also running better on his second start after racing prominently for a time. Kilpedder {stone bruise], Puckane [lame], Lord Leader [stone bruise], More Hours [ground], Piercetown Lass [stiff and sore] and Vickate [ground] didn't run. |
