LORD KILLUCAN won this with plenty to spare. Unplaced in two bumpers last season, he was a very easy winner of a Stradbally point-to-point earlier this month and confirmed that positive impression here. The winner made all the running and jumped well. He had his rivals at full stretch from before the straight and soon had the race in safe keeping. He clearly enjoyed this ground and looks the type that will be able to hold his own in open company if pointed in that direction. Gleneric steadily worked his way into contention and was the only danger to Lord Killucan nearing the straight, but he could never land a telling blow. He was a point-to-point winner just over a year ago and improved on his recent fifth at Castletown-Geoghegan. Extended Favour won this race last year but hadn’t run since winning a point the following month. This looked a stronger renewal and he stuck to his task under pressure from the turn in without being able to mount a meaningful challenge. He should improve for this run. Ground Ivy ran respectably and showed enough to suggest that he could add to his point-to-point tally. Limart raced prominently but paid the price for chasing the winner over the final half-mile. A relatively lightly raced sort, he was having his first run since November. The remainder struggled to make an impression |
