To make matters worse, he jumped away miles off the pace, losing any chance, and was eventually pulled up. An enquiry was held afterwards with rider JP Magnier stating he felt there was a certain amount of confusion in relation to how much time remained prior to the start of this race. The stewards were satisfied that the horse was fitto run and the starter had affected a fair start, but felt there may have been a misunderstanding of the pre-start procedures. They apportioned no blame and took no further action. Victory went to the favourite OUR BOB, who arrived to take up the lead approaching the final furlong and kept on well. The extra trip and better ground suited the winner, according to Willie Mullins, who intends sending him over jumps soon. He looks a nice prospect. The eyecatcher of the race was runner-up Carrickmines. The son of Saddler's Hall was doing his best work in the closing stages and looks a nice type for the future, especially when he goes jumping. Sher One Moor had shown potential as a four-year-old on a few occasions and seemed to cope with these quicker conditions - the first time he has encountered them in his career. Proform Native had run a promising race first time out here in February and he probably found this surface too quick, and the same could be said about Classic Moon.and the fancied Oscar Supreme. Outsider Siul An Sli appeared to slip up after relinquishing his lead rounding the home turn, losing all momentum. |

Pool of @3,426.50 carried forward to Naas on Sunday 11th March. Off the track since finishing down the field in a Clonmel bumper ten months ago, JACK THE BUS sprung a surprise. After moving into contention with less than half a mile to run, he made his bid for the lead early in the straight. He then went to the front with over a furlong to go and, despite drifting over to the stands' side, kept on gamely to prevail. The seven-year-old looks like he will be well suited by stepping up trip and there should be better to come from him. Our Bob was looking to improve on his fifth to stablemate Cooldine over this course and distance two weeks ago. He took over the lead with half a mile to run and kept on well when pressed by the winner in the straight but he was unable to fend off that rival's challenge. He looks good enough to win a bumper. Split Ear was putting in his best work on the far rail over the final furlong and a half. This was an encouraging performance on his first start since September and he can be expected to improve on this. He had run quite well on his two previous starts and has shown that he can handle better ground. Keep Me ran respectably and probably produced a similar effort to the one that saw him chase home wide margin winner Nuvelli in a Navan bumper last month. Devil Winds was looking to build on his fourth to Cheltenham bumper hopeful Fiveforthree in a Punchestown bumper last month. He held every chance turning in but had no more to give inside the final quarter of a mile. Afterthegoldrush is another that can do better next time as this was his first outing since September. Major Yates was still in the front rank nearing the straight but he soon gave best. He should improve with this debut run behind him. |
