ANALYSIS: An intriguing beginners' chase on paper but, with Woodlands Genpower again running below expectations, and Super Lord also below form, BOB BOB BOBBIN's task was a relatively simple one and he comfortably gained his first success over fences at the fourth attempt. He is ideally suited by a proper test of stamina, particularly around here, and his trainer sees the Welsh National as a good long-term target, but there ought to be more to come this season. He may come back here next Saturday for another novice event, while a tilt at the Royal & SunAlliance has not been ruled out.

Squires Lane was 46 lengths behind Bob Bob Bobbin on his previous start, but is clearly going the right way and was a creditable second.

Woodlands Genpower looked a potential chaser from the moment he won a Newton Abbot bumper on his debut in June 2003, but he has not taken to fences as one might have hoped.

Treasulier was not at his best but would have been better off in handicap company in any case.

Super Lord shaped well enough at Warwick on his chasing debut, having won a novice hurdle at Windsor on his debut under Rules. But, after appearing to travel quite well, he stopped rather quickly.

*Super Lord was reported to have been unsuited by the ground.
