QUADPOT £32.90 to a £1 stake. Pool: £3,109.90. 69.80 winning tickets. ANALYSIS: The first three came clear from the top of the straight to suggest there was not much strength in depth. RING BACK ran well on her recent Towcester debut but was still green under pressure after travelling strongest of the trio before forging clear despite hanging right into her rider's whip to end under the stands' rail. Lady Wilde had the experience and moved up menacingly into the last three furlongs, but she was all out to hold rank outsider Supreme Cara for second place. Supreme Cara had shown little in two starts, although she was returning from a 109-day break after being well beaten, suggesting caution over the form. The Shirley Hunt played up in the preliminaries and planted herself when the field jumped off - a big disappointment as the half-sister to the stable's classy The Mick Weston had finished two places behind the winner on their debuts last time. Parthian Shot helped set the gallop before getting squeezed up when outpaced down the back straight, but she rallied into the straight and looked a stayer in the making. Premier Hope and Linn Of Dee, the latter first home of the newcomers, stayed on without scenting the front three. |

Pool: £4,245.00. 389.10 winning tickets. ANALYSIS: This was a real test for these inexperienced youngsters but it threw up a thoroughly likeable performance from Nicky Hendersons newcomer AMARETTO ROSE, who raced prominently throughout, travelling strongly and putting clear daylight between her and her rivals turning for home before powering up the run-in. Although not bred to be particularly special, and not costing a great deal, she is clearly not inconvenienced by these testing conditions and looks a nice prospect. Les Baux Belle and Maryscross ran game races in defeat and will be finding success in this sphere sooner rather than later on this evidence, with the latter handling soft ground much better than she had done at Southwell. Ring Back weakened out of contention having raced handily throughout, while Peppery Pamela plugged on creditably but finished tired and would have found this too stiff a test on debut. |
