After a stewards' inquiry, the placings remained unaltered. ANALYSIS: Quite a reasonable gallop for one of these events but a lack of any strength in depth, proven by most of this field being ridden along soon after halfway to keep up. The experienced Sundarbob was on the case from the start and had most in trouble into the last half-mile, but was totally unable to withstand the strong gallop of BALLYKELLY, who had the race won at the top of the straight for an impressive win. This winning Irish pointer is a grand stamp of a chaser and may have another bumperstart this season before going jumping next. Strawberry, who has plenty of stamina in her pedigree being related to winners over 16 furlongs over both hurdles and fences, shaped with promise as well in staying on stoutly in the final two furlongs. She was the only other one able to get past Sundarbob, who was labouring into the final furlong after his front-running effort. Valprimo got trapped against the inside rail in the pack mid-race, but looked to run better than on his debut, while another fine stamp of a horse Seal Harbour shaped with some promise, having to race widest out in the pack while travelling strongly until the home bend. |

ANALYSIS: The field dawdled early, resulting in a modest overall time, but despite being trapped wide throughout and travelling a good deal farther than his rivals, RINGAROSES defied a penalty for his recent Ludlow success in promising fashion. He asserted close home despite looking far from straightforward when Paul O'Neill asked him for everything, and connections reported afterwards that they intend to go to Aintree with him. Sundarbob and Dubai Sunday ran sound races in defeat, finishing close up behind the winner. The latter made a pleasing debut when winning a course-and-distance bumper last month and probably ran as well again here. He is apparently Cheltenham Festival bound but on this evidence, he'll only be making up the numbers. Piper Paddy, who was held by Sundarbob on his Ludlow run, was unable to reverse the form, while Go On Ahead, who was well placed to strike when still travelling strongly turning in, didn't find what was expected and may come on for this. |

ANALYSIS: A typical bumper in that they went no pace until things quickened up on the home turn. TOOTING made his experience tell, with the outside rail to help up the straight. Effectively, though this told us nothing new about him and the overall form is nothing outside of the run of the mill. Sundarbob and Tickford Abbey obviously emerge as much the same horses but the latter is likely to have the more scope as he ran well enough considering this was his racecourse debut. Basic Fact had every chance in the straight but this was not a bad debut effort and he should derive some benefit. Don Castille might be a bit better than the bare form indicates as he was short of room in the straight, but stayed on. |
