Pool: £2,352.60. 114.30 winning tickets. ANALYSIS: Potentially quite a competitive bumper, with each of the eight to have raced having at least reached a place and several of the newcomers making appeal on paper, but they went only a steady gallop, so that there was an advantage in racing up with the pace and the first three were always prominent - and were also among the most experienced in the line-up with three outings apiece. ARCTIC GHOST had been improving with his races and got the ideal ride, always in the first two, going on over 2f out and staying on well. Warlord was also in touch from the off and moved into second place in the final furlong - this belatedly confirmed the promise of his debut and he may have benefited from this return to a sound surface. Spitfire Sortie made much of the running until headed by the winner then weakened in the final furlong - the blinkers brought him back to a bit of form. The first three came clear of Northern Vic, who did best of the newcomers and also those not ridden up with the pace - he kept on encouragingly and is bred to be suited by a stiffer test of stamina so should build on this debut. Mam Ratagan could not quite bounce back from his modest effort at Aintree last month but was another not suited by the way the race was run - nor was Mister Etek, who pulled hard, or Ididnthinkidmakeit, who was ridden over half a mile out. |
