TOTE WIN £24.30 PL £5.60, £1.20, £1.80, £6.30; Ex £81.20; CSF £53.92 ANALYSIS: Having been working nicely at home according to his trainer newcomer SIZING AMERICA got the better of the favourite here. The winner was one of seven first-timers and should hopefully improve on this initial effort. Derrykeel had a creditable debut third behind Sher Why Not and point-to-point winner Bay Venture in a 24-runner contest at Punchestown which was a useful yardstick. He led at one point in the straight until the winner stayed on better and he probably wasn't helped by this testing surface. First reserve Shuil Coillte had won his only point-to-point start and shaped well here on his racecourse debut while Matchbook led approaching the straight before weakening but this was still his best effort in three runs. Agent Lois made an encouraging debut and should hopefully build on this encouraging start. The ground was fast when Alberti was a staying-on fifth first time out at Kilbeggan in June but he was never happy here along with Fol Esprit, who had finishedsecond place first time out in a Sligo bumper on yielding ground. Freeport Lady carried 1lb over and was another who failed to build on a couple of previous efforts notably when fourth in a 22-runner Cork bumper on her debut last March. Kilnadeema Cailin made a respiratory noise and didn't handle the ground according to her rider. |
