TOTE WIN £18.30 PL £3.50, £2.00, £2.20, £9.90; CSF £198.19 JACKPOT Not won. PLACEPOT Not won. ANALYSIS: A decent debut winning effort from SHER WHY NOT, who led early in the straight and pulled right away. It's difficult to weigh up the strength of this contest, but his trainer reported afterwards his legs "are like glass" and a winners bumper is nextbefore he goes hurdling. Just five of the field had run in point-to-points. The runner-up had won his point-to-point and reappearing from a 214-day absence showed up well with improvement likely to follow. Derrykeel was held up in touch before taking closer order leaving the back straight. He held every chance turning for home but the winner pulled out more. Several should be better for this initial experience, including Halfback, Kanekt Lady and Darc Leader. Colonel Arthur, aDarazari gelding half-brother to a couple of winning hurdlers, raced prominently and led briefly until weakening and his future is over fences. Twiststickorbuy was doing his best work in the closing stages and is another to take out of the race, while the well-bred Sheikhman never got in a blow. Tornado Lady was the subject of a running and riding enquiry after coming home in 12th place and her rider was banned for insufficient effort. |
