TOTE WIN £4.50 PL £2.20, £1.70, £1.80; Ex £25.70; CSF £22.03 JACKPOT @85.50. Pool of @20,754.50. 182 winning tickets. PLACEPOT @15.30. Pool of @1,144.50. 56 winning tickets. Following a stewards' inquiry, On Reflection, who passed the post second, was disqualified and placed third. Derrykeel, who passed the post third, was promoted to second. ANALYSIS: A pleasing winning debut from LINE BALL, who sprinted right away inside the final furlong. Bookmakers reacted by installing the son of Good Thyne at the head of the Weatherbys Bumper market at prices ranging from 12-1 to 14-1, but the winning trainerwas unsure of plans for the JP McManus-owned four-year-old. Plenty of incident in behind led to a lengthy stewards' inquiry, with the second and third placings reversed. On Reflection went second leaving the back straight and looked sure to play aprominent role until the winner went on. He is in the same ownership as the winner and is sure to come on for this initial effort. Derrykeel, who had a couple of placed efforts to his credit, was done no favours in the closing stages after leadingfor a long way, but was outclassed at the finish. Farmer Brown, one of two previous winners in the line-up after Saddleeruppat (leg infection) was an absentee, got a dream run through on the inner but couldn't quicken to get to the leaders. Running Wild should benefit from this initial experience, along with Mistify Me, who lost all chance when her saddled slipped in the early stages. [BF] |
