Just four went to post for this race open to second season novices, with JUSTIFIED proving victorious in workmanlike fashion. Sent to the front from the outset, he jumped left on several occasions again, with his rider putting that down to forcing him to jump at times according to his trainer.
Last season's Powers Gold Cup winner at Fairyhouse, had won first time out over fences almost 12 months ago, and a step up in distance is on the cards, with the King George the Christmas target. The James Nicholson, Clonmel Oil and Durkan were all mentioned as possible races before a trip to Britain on December 26, and on this evidence he looks the type who should appreciate a trip.
Tumbling Dice, successful on his seasonal debut at Cork last season, looked a threat after going second away from the third-last, but he was soon struggling to get on terms. This was a fair effort on his return and he can hopefully build on this over the coming months.
Arteea, a long way behind the winner in the Powers Gold Cup last term, was settled in fourth, but he never looked like posing a threat, while Gemini Lucy, seeking a four-timer over fences, fell when lying second at halfway.
