ANALYSIS: A supine early pace for what amounts to little more than an average maiden. Take nothing away from PRIME NUMBER, who settled well up front and when his jockey wound things up, he responded in good style. He looks a progressive animal and may well make a successful jump in grade next time.

Kintbury Cross came from way off the pace and was never nearer than at the finish. He would have learned plenty and his rider was relatively considerate.

The pair finished clear of Plectrum, who came to challenge the winner, before sticking his head in the air, suggesting he was either still green or not in love with racing yet.

Sir Edward Elgar showed ability on his debut, but the rest were ordinary, headed by Actuality, who ran very green and lugged badly right.

R Smith, the rider of Megalala, which was unplaced, reported that the gelding finished lame.
