Ballylinch Stud reports that their first season sire Intense Focus is off to an exceptional start to his new career with seven of his first eight mares already scanned in foal.

Ballylinch Managing Director John O’Connor commented “Intense Focus has proven to be extremely popular with breeders and he is due to cover an outstanding first book of mares.  To have his fertility proven so early is an added bonus for everyone”

Winner of the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at two, Intense Focus stands at Ballylinch Stud for a fee of €6,500 1st October.

22/01/10 - Dewhurst winner Intense Focus to Retire to Ballylinch Stud in 2010

Intense Focus, the 2008 Darley Dewhust Stakes winner is to retire to stud at Ballylinch Stud in Ireland for 2010.

Intense Focus who had fellow Group 1 winners Lord Shanakill and Rip Van Winkle behind him at Newmarket, recorded the fastest time in the Dewhurst for 41 years, comfortably beating the times recorded by leading International sires Nijinsky, Mill Reef, The Minstrel, Zafonic and Rock of Gibraltar.

He retires to stud the property of a partnership of breeders which include his trainer Jim Bolger.  Commenting on the new arrival Ballylinch Managing Director John O’Connor said ‘Intense Focus goes to stud as a Group 1 winning two year old by Giant’s Causeway at a time when his sires first two sons at stud Shamardal and Footstepsinthesand have made excellent starts to their stallion careers.  He is a beautifully conformed and very correct horse whose looks will really appeal to breeders.  As befits a very fast two year old he should have a strong influence for speed and precocity as he is a CC on the Equinome Genetic Profile.’
