Compton Eclipse appears to have gone backwards since running with promise, although finishing two places behind Thingmebob, when the pair made their debuts in a similar affair here in October, and the betting was predictably lopsided. A turn-up looked possible at halfway, where he seemed to be going the better of the pair, but Thingmebob, who had been off the track since, was simply showing experience. She took her time getting the message but then came right away in the closing stages. Although the form amounts to little, Mark Tompkins thinks a bit about the winner, who is still eligible for maidens. He will step her up in distance a couple of furlongs and reckons she could get 1m4f eventually.
