This looked quite a tricky contest but the first three were clear of the rest and victory went to Critical Stage who was able to follow up a course and distance success a fortnight earlier. He had been raise 5lb for that win but the crucial factor on this occasion was the determination he showed in the finish. He looked physically dwarfed and looked to be overrun by Tight Squeeze in the final two furlongs but rose to the challenge and held on gamely. He may find life a little tougher after this but certainly lacks nothing in courage. |
