This was run at a really strong pace, unusually for a bumper, Gretton racing in a long lead, with Kosovko clear of the rest in second, until the pair started to come back to their field towards the end of the back straight. Back To Ben Alder was cruising on their heels straightening for home, and having gone easily to the front around two furlongs out he pulled impressively clear and won easing down. The form might be nothing special, but the winner is a strapping sort with the scope to go a long way, and he is evidently considered Nicky Henderson's best bumper horse. He is being aimed for the Festival Bumper, and while he may be going to Newbury in the meantime, Henderson said he would not be worried about going there without a run. |
