Despite drifting in the ring, Royal Alphabet made the successful transition to chasing after running very free at the head of affairs. He had led from long time leader Laoch Dubh soon after the fifth-last despite taking a chance at an earlier fence, he jumped otherwise well. "He raced a bit keenly early on, but he's a good horse," summed up Ruby Walsh, while trainer Willie Mullins said: "I'm delighted with that and he was very rapid with his jumping. He took a chance down the back and got away with it and, while I have no plans at the moment, I'd say he'll stay over 2 miles for the time being." |
