Yashin has shown himself to be something of a runaway in the past but careful handling, taking him slowly and early to post, has started to work and he came home here in spectacular fashion. He had failed in a seller previously after showing distinct promise in better races and the step up three furlongs in trip looked to work the oracle. He decimated this field and was value for something nearer double the distance. The handicapper is likely to take revenge, having dropped him 4lb, for his selling defeat, but on this evidence he looks on an upward curve if contained. He was sold to Nigel Shields for 12,000gns. |
