In front from over a furlong out, he stayed on well and afterwards trainer John Kiely said: "We'll be in no rush with him. Chasing will be his game and we intend giving him plenty of time." Bit Of A Gift, fourth behind the useful Star Horse on his only previous start at this track in May, ran a good race. Left in front when Taste Of Heaven hung badly left and ran out on the bend after the stands, he only gave best over one furlong out and should be well capable of winning a similar contest. Lackabane Julie showed a lot more here than on her debut in May. She moved into third place before the straight and kept on, although unable to improve her position. Shiminnie, who had smart placed form last season, including a second behind the useful Major Vernon at Punchestown, can be expected to improve for the run. Always in the leading few, she failed to raise her effort turning for home but kept on nonetheless. Butter Bridge made a promising debut, while Carrickfergus, who showed ability on both his starts in July, should come on for the run. He moved up promisingly to go second into the straight, only for his effort to peter out in the closing stages. |
