TOTE WIN £5.20 PL £2.00, £1.40, £2.70, £2.10; Ex £26.50; CSF £32.55; TRICAST £347.58 ANALYSIS: Quite a competitive handicap chase on paper but REGAL SON, backed both off the course and on it, took it up after the fourth-last and was pushed into a commanding lead. He is going to go up sharply for this, possibly as much as 10lb. Trainer Pat Doyle said: "He likes nice ground so we will keep him going. We thought he was a nice horse at one time but he is ordinary." Market Mariner is an ultra-consistent sort who ran yet another good race. His turn should come soon. An Culainn Beag won over an extended two and three-quarter miles in soft ground at Limerick in early March but appeared to have rather lost her way in recent starts. However this was much more like her form. Polly's Dream is suited by this trip but her running at Cork last month suggests she is at her best in more testing ground. There was another eight lengths back to top weight Slyguff Rory who was brought down at Punchestown last time and raced prominently until the tap was turned on. |
