Jivaty, a discard from the David Johnson team, took advantage of the departure of Rigmarole four out to come through for second, but he was a frustrating sort when trained by Martin Pipe and it remains to be seen how he progresses for his new connections. Rigmarole, a high-class hurdler on his day but well below his best last season when affected by breathing problems, nearly got rid of Tony McCoy when blundering the first ditch, where he was slightly unsighted by a horse jumping in front of him. His jumping was erratic thereafter, sometimes big and bold, sometimes low, but he had got within three lengths of Hold On Harry and closing when landing steeply at the fourth-last, givingMcCoy a nasty fall. |
