TOTE WIN £18.00 PL £4.20, £5.50, £6.70; Ex £805.10; CSF £154.48; TRICAST £2536.85 ANALYSIS: Quite a turn-up here with LOST IN NORMANDY, 12lb out of the handicap and seemingly out of sorts, showed his appreciation of a big step down in trip to win in emphatic style. "He's won over three and a quarter miles in the past," said trainer Lisa Williamson's husband Mark of the winner, "but that was on fast ground and he just hasn't been getting home over longer distances on slow going." Toon Trooper, a three-mile-one hurdle winner for Jonjo O'Neill two years ago, has had his problems since and had failed to complete in four of his last five starts, including a point-to-point. But apart from one mistake here he jumped soundly enough and he still has time on his side. Quizzling was a fair third on ground that may have been slower than ideal for him, finishing just ahead of Lord Oscar. That former front-runner and ex-pointer was restrained some way off the pace on this chase debut before making eye-catching headway from halfway. But he could not sustain his challenge from three out and carried his head rather awkwardly under pressure in the straight. Alphabetical, a maiden point winner in Ireland in the spring, jumped soundly on this chase debut but raced some way off the pace and could not summon up the speed to get in a blowfrom three out. He may have done better if raced closer to the pace, but possibly wants three miles to be seen to best effect. |
