ANALYSIS: The bare form of this bumper is just ordinary but there were a few interesting types on show and one of those, LEGAL GLORY, made a winning debut in quite comfortable fashion. A full-brother to the yard’s talented but luckless staying chaser Big Rob, he was always going well and, produced with a well-timed effort, found plenty when asked, despite looking as though he will improve a fair bit just for the experience alone. He should progress and could be decent when faced with obstacles.

Jimmy Bedney, making his debut for a new yard off the back of a 193-day break, got the run of the race in front and seemed to step up on his previous efforts in second.

Northern Endeavour, a promising fourth on his debut at Worcester 201 days previously, again offered promise and should do even better when faced with obstacles. A similar comment applies to Lord Ryeford, a 10,000gns full-brother to two and a half mile hurdle-winner Lord Dundaniel, who made a pleasing debut.

Butler Services was not beaten that far but failed to really improve on the form he showed over course and distance on his debut.

Coleraine, a 40,000 euro purchase, out of a mare who was placed in Irish points, was in trouble a fair way out and never really looked like posing a serious threat.

Pearly Star did not offer a great deal off the back of a 238-day break, while his stablemate, Four For A Laugh, a 24,000 euro half-brother to a winner over a mile and ten furlongs, as well as a bumper scorer, ran below market expectations on his racecourse debut.

The 2004 Grand National winner Amberleigh House’s half-brother Hatton House, a 130,000 euro purchase, finished up beaten a long way, but there was definite promise and he can do a lot better in time.
