TOTE WIN £49.60 PL £10.30, £1.90, £2.20, £7.80; Ex £253.30; CSF £139.19; TRICAST £846.57 ANALYSIS: A first win over hurdles, at his sixth attempt, for AGHADOE HEIGHTS who stuck to his task well after going to the front after two out. According to trainer Steve Mahon, the testing ground was not ideal for the winner who, to judge by this effort, is on the upgrade. Cailin Go Maith had shown improvement when third at Fairyhouse on her previous start and she confirmed that she is going in the right direction with another solid effort here. She got to the front before two out and although headedsoon afterwards she kept plugging away, suggesting that a slightly longer trip should suit. All Sorts Star, once successful on the Flat, should be up to winning a similar type contest to this. He made headway to chase the leaders before two out and after coming under pressure before the straight he stayed on to force a photo for second place. Back In Business, back from a break, improved on previous efforts on this testing ground and made steady progress from two out to be nearest at the finish. Thatsharib, with won win (on fast ground two years ago) to his credit from 28 previous attempts over hurdles, was another returning from a break and after closing before two out he was unable to make much impression thereafter. Big Business, runner up over 2m2f at Fairyhouse on his previous start, was disappointing and dropped out of contention quickly after three out. He was examined by the Turf Club vet and was reported to be post-race normal. Iron Hague, runner-up on two of his three previous starts this season, was another to run below expectations. He went to the front three out but was done with once headed before the second last. |
