ANALYSIS: They went a steady pace in this Grade 2 event and the race provided the result many racegoers would have wanted, with IMPEK showing improved form under a typically inspired ride from Tony McCoy.

Impek had shown that forcing tactics suited him whensuccessful in a handicap at Aintree on his previous start and once again held a prominent position as he led over the early fences until headed by the eventual fourth.

His jockey decided it was time to assert the pressure at four out and kicked his mount into the lead once more, and from there on it was a case of catch me if you can, a feat that proved beyond the chasing pack as he went further clear in the closing stages.

He is obviously at the zenith of his powers and connections may let him takehis chance in the King George next.

Monkerhostin remains a great credit to his trainer and put in another splendid effort after his exertions in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham last weekend. He made good progress to get into the firing lineover three out but just could never get in a real crack at the winner. He looks sure to make an impact in the top chases.

Thisthatandtother travelled well for a long way, held up off the pace on his reappearance, but was caught a little flat footed when the winner kicked on. He kept on quite well in the closing stages and will improve considerably for this return. He could also head to the King George next and may well gain his revenge on the race-fit winner there.

Hand Inn Hand ran a blinder on his return and was in front soon after the second and jumped well in the lead until headed by the winner. He should also come on for the run and there are certainly decent prizes to be won with him at this trip this season.

Mister McGoldrick was soon prominent in the chasing group and ran well until weakening after jumping the third last. He gave the impression he is coming back to his best and could be one to keep an eye on when returning to his favourite hunting ground, Wetherby.

Iris Royal was having his first run for 611 days and made a little progress before four out before weakening in the straight. He should improve if all remains well with him.

Last year's winner Le Roi Miguel was a major disappointment on his follow-up bid as he made numerous mistakes and was never in the hunt. He is much better than he showed on this occasion.
