ANALYSIS: A controversial finish to this bumper dominated by the Charles Byrnes pair ALPHA ROYALE who defeated his tenderly handled stable companion Laetitia by a length. The winner had been the subject of substantial support when only third at Limerick last January when trained by Thomas O'Connor. Prior to that he had been registered under the care of Charles Byrnes and obviously back in that yard now was the subject of reported late market support most of it after the off of the race which was even started before the official off time. The rider of the runner-up was handed a €2,000 fine and banned for 50 racedays while the horse was suspended for 60 racedays. Her trainer escaped any penalty after he told the stewards he was unsatisfied with the ride.

Keys Pride improved on her only previous start when keeping on and can hopefully build on this effort while Coldwells, who experienced some problems on the way to the start, stayed on into third but was soon fighting a losing battle.

Classy'sSister failed to build on her respectable Thurles effort. Dead Sound, a half-brother to owner JP McManus' previous winners Go Roger Go and Hell Of A Shindy, got to the front down the back straight but was soon struggling when tackled rounding the home turn.

Get The Edge was another who looked a threat before the turn-in only to fade. Lunar Sea raced up there for a time only to drop right out towards the end of the back straight.

*Kells Harps (lame), Lucifer Du Montceau (respiratory tract infection), Coast (lame), Some Sensation (coughing) didn't run.
