ANALYSIS: Stamina was obviously not in question for NAY, one of a fleet of newcomers in the line-up, and while he did tire somewhat, and edge to the left, in the closing stages it was hardly surprising after a front running performance which had all his rivals struggling before the final bend. His trainer Willie Mullins might consider the Cheltenham Bumper for him next season. "He isn't an easy ride and is a bit headstrong, but he should learn to settle down a bit," Mullins said of the winner.

Well Mounted made an encouraging debut and tried hard to get to grips with the winner inside the last two furlongs having had ten lengths to make up on the final bend. He stayed on for pressure, but was always being held.

Wara Mountain, third on his debut at Cork last mount, was only a moderate fifth with half a mile to race and he stayed on quite well in the straight.

Coolgreaney, a winning pointer who had finished second on her racecourse debut at Gowran Park, raced in second place for over a mile and a half but could only keep on at the one pace from before the straight.

Cadeansceal, who showed promise on his debut at Cork last month, again performed creditably.

Champagne Cocktail, favourite on the strength of his debut second at Fairyhouse, was unable to improve his position from three furlongs out. (TO'H)
