TOTE WIN £5.20 PL £1.90, £2.30, £1.50; Ex £24.70; CSF £16.67 The last flight in the back straight was omitted on all circuits due to false ground. ANALYSIS: A typical race of its kind with plenty of dead wood - the first four pulled clear. It was again an unsatisfactory jumping contest with the same hurdle omitted, leaving long runs on the flat, especially to the second-last in the straight. By that time, there were only three competitive, with BEN'S TURN looking like winning as far as she wanted. However, picture changed when she hit the front as she wandered into the second-last and from there was wanting to edge left to join Cash And New. As such she was value for more than the narrow margin if she matures with her racing. Connections pointed the way to the final of this series at Newbury in March and she must go there a leading contender as whatever the handicapper makes of her form she looks to have improvement to counter his assessment. Cash And New, another bumper winner, confirmed the promise of her hurdling debut in November with a game effort against an unbeaten rival. Boberelle could have done with the extra hurdle to jump three out as she had mixed it up front, travelling and jumping well, but she hit the second-last to betray her tiredness. Riffles could not go the pace of the principals down the side of the course but she kept on without being punished in a lost cause, but beaten double the distance by the winner than last time. |
