TOTE WIN £4.80 PL £1.30, £4.10, £8.30, £5.00; Ex £119.00; CSF £81.57; TRICAST £2104.76 ANALYSIS: A modest but competitive sprint handicap restricted to fillies and mares. They split into two groups early on and, although they eventually finished pretty much as one, it was those who raced on the near side from the start who had an advantage. DANCE TO THE BLUES was 9lb higher than when winning at Brighton three starts previously having been running well in defeat since gaining that success, but she was always well placed on the near side of the track and made this look pretty straightforward. She will obviously go up again for this, but is progressing nicely and ought to remain competitive. Cyfrwys, without the tongue-tie but fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, was given every chance against the near-side rail under her usual positive ride and found only the progressive winner too good. This was much better than of late and she could pick up a similar race, especially if the headgear continues to have a positive effect. Red Finesse failed to confirm the promise she showed as a juvenile in a maiden on her belated reappearance at Yarmouth but, making her handicap debut, she offered plenty of encouragement. She just took time to pick up and, while that could be put down to inexperience, she is likely to benefit from a step up in trip. Ivory Lace fared best of those who raced towards the far side of the track from the start and emerges with plenty of credit. She is probably a little better than her recent form figures suggest and, back on a winning mark, could be worth keeping on the right side of. Linda Green is a confirmed hold-up horse and she was probably not ideally suited by the field splitting into two groups early on, not least because she was ultimately on the wrong side. Cerulean Rose has not won since August 2003, but she again ran well having been hampered early on and then forced to switch with her effort. Lay A Whisper was not without promise on her first run over a trip this short, but Perfect Solution was hampered early on and did not run to the form she showed when winning at Salisbury on her previous start. |
