Castanza was claimed by Mark Wellings for £6,000. ANALYSIS: A poor seller that is unlikely to linger long in the memory and there were nine horses in a line across the track passing the furlong pole. SPITFIRE BOB, who was a fair performer a few years ago and recorded a couple of victories on the old Wolverhampton fibresand, had been out of sorts for quite a while but the return to this surface for the first time in almost two years did the trick. He will do well to find another race as modest as this, however. Pending has recent winning form on turfand performed much better on this surface than he had in two tries on Polytrack. This was his also his best effort since joining the Richard Fahey yard, but again he will need to find a race at least as bad as this in order to win again. Nevsky Bridge, unplaced in all four of her previous starts in better company, performed better on this drop in grade and at least she has the possibility of a little bit more improvement. Sister Eugenie, badly out of form on turf of late and making her sanddebut, was running on right against the stands' rail late on and did not seem to lack for stamina over this testing mile. Castanza wasn't beaten far after racing prominently from the start, but may find this trip a bit too far. French import Greenbelt was by far best in at the weights, but was entitled to need this outing after a 16-month break and ran accordingly, whilst both Aswan and Musical Gift may also just have needed this following their respective absences. *Alan Daly reported that Terraquin hung right. |
