ANALYSIS: Runner-up over this trip at Killarney before finishing a creditable seventh in a 25-runner seven-furlong event at The Curragh 10 days previously, STAR OF RUSSIA had to dig deep to get off the mark here, coming out best in a three-way photo finish. She is declared to run at Tipperary tonight, but is not certain to run. The winner was in the leading group all the way, and after challenging from over 1f out, she responded for pressure, and was probably helped by Aldocos arriving on her outside, to get to the front near the finish.

Stef's Girl; on a hat-trick and raised 11lb for her six-furlong win at Ballinrobe nine days previously, had made all when scoring over this trip at Naas last month. She tried to do the same here and stuck to her task well, giving best only close home.

Aldocos, who had shown only moderate form since running second on his reappearance, made headway from well back in the field over the last three furlongs and finished well.

Nephin, just over 3l behind Star OfRussia when they ran at The Curragh early this month, ran close to that form with the winner and was noted staying on quite well in the closing stages.

Pretty Posh, successful off a 6lb lower mark over this course and trip in June, had finished well off her new mark when fourth over an extended seven furlongs at Tipperary on her previous start. Tracking the leaders in fourth place at half-way, she could make little impression over 2f out and kept on without quickening.(TOH)
