ANALYSIS: This looked a shade better than the first division, and the manner in which the front two pulled away from their field in the final furlong suggests the form is solid enough.
There was plenty of market support for newcomer ALFIE TUPPER and, despite showing signs of greenness under pressure, he did not disappoint. Trainer Sylvester Kirk reckons the horse is "basically a three-year-old who has done well to win at two", so he expects plenty of improvement from the good-looking gelding.
Proxenia, a beaten favourite on three previous occasions, again had her limitation of pace exposed on the run to the line. She got the 7f, which she was tackling for the first time, without a problem but simply found one too good.
Golden Sprite, who belied her 100-1 starting price when fifth at Salisbury last time, raced keenly on this occasion and could not sustain her challenge from the furlong mark. But she seems to be going the right way.
