Group 1 winner for Lope de Vega

Dubai Future Champions Day at Newmarket proved to be an excellent day for Ballylinch and our first season sire Lope de Vega. The Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes was won by Lope de Vega's daughter Royal Razalma for trainer Jonathan Portman, jockey Richard Kingscote and owners David and Gwyn Joseph. Bred by Eileen Farrelly Royal Razalma is out of the Flying Spur mare Twiggy's Sister, who has a Dream Ahead foal in 2014.

Better was to come for Lope de Vega in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes when his Ballylinch bred son Belardo won the race impressively by 2 lengths. Out of the Ballylinch hombred Irish Champion 2yo filly Danaskaya (by Danehill) Belardo was a €100,000 Arqana August yearling where he was purchased by Ted Voute on behalf of owner Prince Faisal. Trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Andrea Atzeni this was Belardo's second black type win after his victory in the Listed Denford Stud stakes and he was also placed fourth in the Group 2 July S. and Champagne S.

The day was also a special one for the fillies as Ballylinch sales graduate Together Forever (by Galileo ex Green Room) won the Group 1 Fillies Mile for Aidan and Joseph O'Brien and owners Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. Bred by Gillian and Vimal Khosla the filly was raised at Ballylinch and realised €680,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale in 2013. Her year younger half-sister by Sea The Stars was sold by Ballylinch at this years Goffs Orby Sale for €1.1 million. Second in the race was Agnes Stewart, also a Ballylinch sales Graduate and by our own stallion Lawman.
