TOTE WIN £1.90 PL £1.10, £2.80, £3.80; Ex £10.30; CSF £12.00 ANALYSIS: HOWYA NOW KID, one of only two in the line-up with previous form, went one place better than his Tipperary five-furlong debut effort earlier this month. He broke smartly to show good speed early until relinquishing his advantage rounding the home turn. He was asked to go on again early in the straight and, poaching a couple of lengths in the process, kept on well to score from fast-finishing newcomer El Soprano. The runner-up, a filly by Noverre, is out of dual juvenile winner Lady Of Kildare and she didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when they straightened for home. Once switched to the outer, she quickened nicely when the penny dropped and on this evidence she looks well capable of winning a similar maiden before long. Whatsthescript, by Royal Applause, was another to shape well on his debut and is open to obvious improvement along with Lady Teabing, who never got in a blow at the business end. Winter Cruise was the only other runner with the benefit of a previous run under his belt. Driven along turning for home carrying 2lb overweight, the outsider of the Bolger pair kept on down the outside from off the pace without ever looking like getting to the principals, but he looks to be going the right way. Patrickswell ran well before weakening and hinted at some ability, while Copper Dock raced keenly from the outset to head the winner for a time but was a spent force when they straightened for home. Leeside Champ weakened when the tempo increased after halfway but is probably better than this given he was the stable first choice. |
